Eremurus is a genus of over 40 species, mainly from central and western Asia, where it grows on dry rocky slopes, often found at fairly high elevations in mountainous terrain. Translated from the Greek, 'eremos' means alone and 'oura' means tail. A reference to the location and the flowering form. The Eremurus is also sometimes called desert tail.
