Villa Nova creates distinctive and eclectic printed fabrics, decorative fabrics, sheer curtains, wallcoverings and cushions complemented by a spectrum of plain and semi-solid fabrics. Villa Nova's in-house design team identifies trends that define the look and feel of each launch. The team draws inspiration from nature, art exhibitions and emerging trends in fashion. Their initial research takes the form of visual mood boards, gathering color and design inspiration to formulate initial concept ideas for a collection. A design usually starts with hand-drawn sketches or hand-painted artworks that are often manipulated and reworked to arrive at a final design. Each design is further developed using our computer aided design system (CAD) to work out pattern repeats and different color combinations.
The design team works with expert weavers and printers to select the right fabric qualities, weaving techniques and printing processes to realize their ideas and turn each design into a unique Villa Nova product that matches the look and style of the overall collection. By means of many weaving, printing and color proofs, the products are ultimately processed into the complete coordinated collection. The entire process from initial concept to final realization of the designs and product launch can take between 12 and 18 months, with the design team having critical input at each stage of development, ensuring the highest quality end product.
